Lunch for Libraries - Mark Bittman

-

What is the “best” diet to follow? Do we need to count calories? Are carbs really that bad for you? Learn the answers to these questions and many more on Thursday, June 18, at Madison Public Library Foundation’s 2020 Lunch for Libraries live-streamed fundraiser with Mark Bittman. His appearance will be in conversation with NPR’s To the Best of Our Knowledge producer Shannon Henry Kleiber. One of the most respected cooking authorities and acclaimed food writers in America, Bittman teamed up with Yale physician David Katz, M.D., founder of True Health Initiative, to pen How to Eat: All Your Food and Diet Questions Answered. Bittman has written 20 books, including the How to Cook Everything series; Food Matters: A Guide to Conscious Eating; and VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00. He’s a former longtime New York Times food writer whose column “The Minimalist,” which ran from 1997 to 2010, focused on the practice and pleasure of cooking.  He later became the Sunday Magazine’s lead food writer and the country’s first food-focused Op-Ed columnist. He’s currently a faculty member of Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.

Individual tickets are $75 for the event and a hardcover copy of How to Eat, or $125 for the event, the hardcover book and a Wisconsin Book Festival annual membership. Guests will receive an email containing a link to the live-streamed program on Crowdcast one week before the event.Businesses and individuals interested in becoming a Lunch for Libraries sponsor or those who wish to purchase tickets, visit: https://mplfoundation.org/event/lunch-for-libraries-with-mark-bittman. For more information, visit Madison Public LIbrary Foundation.
