Canceled Due to Illness: Black Comix, Social Justice, and Visual Ideologies

Presented in partnership with the Applied Comics Kitchen (ACK!) at UW-Madison, this workshop, led by professor and cartoonist John Jennings, addresses Black comix, identity, social justice agendas and representation in the contemporary political climate. Participants will learn­ several comix making practices. This workshop is free and open to the public. Applied Comics Kitchen (ACK!) is a collective of graduate students and faculty at UW-Madison that creates an open, practiced-based dialogue for educators and researchers to share the use of comics making in teaching practices, advocacy, and research methodologies. ACK! is funded by the Borghesi-Mellon Workshop Program through the Center for Humanities and has co-sponsored events with the Holtz Center, OMAI/First Wave, the Creative Writing Program, the Art Department, the Geography Department, and the LGBT Campus Center.
