Wisconsin Book Festival Arts Reception
Spend the early evening on the third floor of Central Library celebrating photography, art, and library programs, including:
- The publisher of FlakPhoto, Andy Adams, teaming up with the BUBBLER @ Madison Public Library to present a FlakPhoto Midwest Print Show held in the Diane Endres Ballweg gallery on the third floor. Coinciding with the Society for Photographic Education Midwest Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, Center for Photography at Madison’s biennial PhotoMidwest Fest event, and many other photography exhibits, talks and conferences, Andy Adams looks to curate a survey of photographers currently working and living in the American Midwest.
- Laura Damon-Moore and the Library as Incubator Project present Art in the Library: an Indoor Picnic and The Wall of Words. Sample a variety of drop-in art exercises for adults that use library materials as the starting point, based on our book The Artist's Library: a Field Guide from the Library as Incubator Project.
- The FilterPhoto Festival Photobook Exhibition will also be on display. In recognition of the increasing importance of the photo book, Filter Photo held its first ever photo book call for entries and juror Gregory Harris, Assistant Curator of the DePaul Art Museum, selected 29 well-thought-out, original, and compelling books for the exhibition. The selected entries comprise a survey of the contemporary photo book, with diverse styles of design, publication, aesthetic, and country of origin represented.
Refreshments will be available for purchase from Underground Food Collective.
